Summer hydration: keeping pets safe in UAE heat

Know the danger signs
Heavy panting, drooling, bright-red gums, wobbliness or vomiting after being outdoors are emergency signs — move to AC, offer small amounts of water, wet the paws and belly with cool (not icy) water, and call your vet immediately.
Getting pets to drink more
Multiple water stations, a pet fountain (moving water is more appealing), ice cubes as treats, and mixing water into food all raise intake. Cats on dry food especially benefit from a daily wet-food portion in summer.
Plan around the heat
Walks before sunrise or after sunset, shade and water on every outing, and never — even for a minute — leave a pet in a parked car. Test pavement with the back of your hand: if you can't hold it for seven seconds, it will burn paws.
